As part of restructuring, OUR is closing operations in 2026. We will no longer be able to offer UT’s Research Mentoring and Assistantship Pathway (Research MAP) service.
Undergraduate students with a current Work-Study offer can apply their Work-Study support toward a research assistantship.
Students can visit their Financial Aid student portal to view if a Work-Study offer is currently part of their award package. If you are eligible for Work-Study and are unsure whether it is currently part of your financial aid package, please contact onestop@utexas.edu.
Have a Work-Study offer? Students can talk to their UT faculty mentor about using their work-study funds for a research assistantship.
Faculty: See our Faculty FAQ for more info on appointing undergraduate research assistants using Work-Study. In many cases, Work-Study can cover up to 70% of student wages, which means that the cost to you, your lab, or your department is greatly reduced.
