Can BDP fit into my degree plan?
The BDPs are designed to fit into undergraduate degree plans across campus. Keep in mind that they are not intended to delay your graduation, so it’s important that prospective students pay attention to our admissions requirements – you may apply as early as your second semester freshman year and you must plan to be enrolled at UT as a degree-seeking undergraduate for at least two semesters after the semester in which you apply to the BDP.
Some majors require a minor or certificate, so check with your major advisor to see how the BDPs can work for your plan.
Can transfer students participate?
Transfer students are welcome to participate in the BDPs. Advisors can work with you on possible course petitions for BDP credits, Connecting Experience ideas, and more!
Are there any additional costs associated with the BDPs?
No, there are no application fees or additional costs to become a BDP student. The BDP coursework will roll into your flat rate tuition in the fall and spring. In the summer, the cost
of our Connecting Internship Experience credit is offered at a lower rate via UEX of $500. Connecting Research Experience costs vary in the summer, but your advisor can work with you on solutions.
We offer BDP Scholarships for Connecting Experiences for fall, spring, and summer. Please talk with your BDP advisor on how to apply.
What is a Connecting Experience?
Connecting Experiences are for-credit experiential learning courses that are required in the BDPs. Internships, research, and creative projects are all options and are integral to this program. BDP advisors can help you find experiences that help bridge your coursework into real life experiences. You can read more about student Connecting Experiences here.
